mostly we know better than to offer up our password or pin to a phone caller claiming to be with our bank but when a very similar thing happens on a computer we often just click the "OK" or "approve" button to make the popup go away. The sad thing is its the unsuspecting person that thinks "oh I should update my computer to stay safe" is also very likely to be using the same password on multiple websites and probably does not have a secure offline backup solution. After verifying that I am already up to date I checked with Mozilla support and found that lots of people are getting pinched by this scam. Recognizing this update popup a potential threat, I closed the application and opened Firefox again where I verified the version of Firefox that I'm running is the most current (you can use this link to verify if you browser is up to date: ). Its important to note that we use multiple levels of anti-virus and anti-malware tools on our machines so its not as though my machine is unprotected.
